About the Role

The City of Kalispell is accepting applications for a Firefighter/Paramedic position within the Fire Department.

Application Process

• A completed and signed City of Kalispell application, along with proof of passing a physical ability test, must be submitted and received by the HR office by 4:00 pm November 15, 2026.
• Candidate Physical Ability Testing (CPAT) is offered annually through the MT Firefighter Testing Consortium. CPATs not taken through the consortium must be completed through an accredited testing company and must have been taken within the 12 months prior to the application due date (November 15, 2026).
• After application review, selected applicants will be notified and required to complete the Johnson‑Roberts Personal History questionnaire by 4:00 pm November 23, 2026.
• Upon passing the questionnaire, interviews will be scheduled. Tentative interview dates are December 7 and 8, 2026.

Notice: Because the CPAT test is considered a strenuous physical test, the City highly recommends consulting with your health care provider before participating.

Requirements

• Current CPAT certification (taken within 12 months of the application deadline).
• Completion of the Johnson‑Roberts Personal History questionnaire.
• Signed City of Kalispell application form.

Compensation

Hourly wage: $30.87 (comprised of a $27.92 probationary wage plus $2.95 paramedic pay).
