About the role
The Town of Scituate is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter or Paramedic. This role is vital to the safety and well-being of our community, providing emergency response, fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical services.
Responsibilities
- Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and other emergency calls.
- Perform fire suppression activities, including operating fire apparatus, laying hose lines, and conducting search and rescue operations.
- Administer emergency medical care as a certified Paramedic or EMT, including patient assessment, treatment, and transport.
- Conduct fire prevention inspections and public education programs.
- Participate in training exercises, drills, and continuing education to maintain certifications and proficiency.
- Maintain equipment, apparatus, and facilities in a state of readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the Scituate Fire Department.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services, or related field preferred.
- Valid Massachusetts EMT or Paramedic certification (or ability to obtain reciprocity).
- Valid Massachusetts Firefighter certification (or ability to obtain).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a physical agility test, medical examination, and background check.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.

Schedule
