FIREFIGHTER/EMT-UNCERTIFIED - STARTING PAY: $22.61 PER HOUR
Sworn firefighting position for an Uncertified Firefighter/EMT. Selected applicant must pass an NFPA 1583 physical annually and complete required physical assessments.
About the role
The uncertified firefighter will complete a rigorous fire academy within the timeframe set by the Fire Chief or designee. Upon completion, they must obtain the following certifications:
- Hazardous Materials Operations
- Firefighter 1 and 2
- NWCG S-130/190/L-180
- All required NIMS certifications
- Driver Operator
- Basic EMS for firefighters
- Approved CPR course
After certification, they will be assigned to a shift, where duties include responding to emergencies, training, apparatus and facility checks, equipment maintenance, and other tasks assigned by the Fire Chief or designee.
Following shift assignment, the employee will begin Emergency Medical Technician Basic training and must pass the National Registry test within three attempts. Upon completion of all requirements, they will be recognized as a certified firefighter.
Schedule
- 48 hours on duty / 96 hours off duty (standard schedule)
- During training: 40 hours per week until fire academy completion
May be subject to the 7K Fire Exemption under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Irregular hours, job-related meetings (in and out of town), and other duties may be required.
