Firefighter
Overview
Responsibilities
- Respond to Fire/Medical/Hazardous Material incidents on-site and off-site.
- Perform daily Fire Protection inspections and testing on buildings and all emergency response vehicles and equipment.
- Provide and perform firefighting functions for on-site and off-site responses.
- Provide intermediate, or paramedic life support techniques for on-site and off-site personnel to include the underground.
- Must be knowledgeable of all emergency hand tools and equipment on response vehicles.
- Review and validate procedures for fire protection equipment and systems.
- Aid in review, development and maintenance of Fire Protection Plans.
- Attend on-site and off-site training for Fire/Medical/Hazardous Material, plus retain current New Mexico Intermediate Emergency Medical Technician license.
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Graduate or Equivalency is required.
- Must possess a current NM EMT license or current out of state EMT license/National Registry Certification eligible for NM reciprocity. NM EMT license shall be obtained within one (1) year and possess the minimum National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1081 Fire Certification (please upload a copy).
- Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Pay
The pay rate is $42.11 per hour with an annual increase in August to $43.16 (2026) per the CBA.

Drug Testing and Background Investigation
