About the role

We are looking for a Fire Watch for a project in Stillwater, OK. Hired candidates will be considered for benefits and paid time off after a 3-month period.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties to assist in prevention of fires, extinguish incipient stage fires, and contact emergency help when necessary.
• Ensure the fire watch permit is filled out properly with all required signatures before work begins.
• Contact emergency help using alarms, radio, telephone, or other means as needed.
• Direct employees and other personnel out of affected hot work areas.
• Use fire extinguishers on incipient stage fires.
• Inspect fire extinguishers for proper charge, current inspection tag, and condition.
• Monitor the affected area for a minimum of 30 minutes after all hot work is completed.
• Conduct a final inspection of the entire area before leaving.
• Perform housekeeping duties to reduce fire hazards in the immediate work area, if able to do so without compromising other duties.
• Detect, recognize, and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
• Regular attendance is required; significant travel may be necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.

Physical Demands

• Safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops, and other elevated positions, as well as confined spaces.
• Effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds.
• Perform strenuous physical tasks, including consistent bending, working in confined spaces, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and in awkward body positions.
• Safely operate all involved equipment and tools.
• Stand for long periods of time.

Work Environment

• Work in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties.
• Frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions.
