About the role
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking a Fire Systems Sales Representative to develop new opportunities via contractors and end-users by managing and growing the business through new construction, renovations, and retro-fits within Massachusetts.
Responsibilities
- Sells fire alarm systems and other related systems.
- Achieves orders, booking, and gross margin goals; meets or exceeds annual quota after initial ramp-up.
- Creates new market share by selling a broad range of products and services to new customers.
- Demonstrates strong prospecting skills and builds customer relationships through consultative selling.
- Searches for and qualifies opportunities on an ongoing basis; follows up with prospects in a timely manner.
- Conducts post-installation follow-up to ensure customer satisfaction and fulfillment of commitments.
- Performs needs assessments, develops sales proposals, estimates, specifications, and presentations.
- Provides accurate forecasts of activity and potential sales.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of products/services and customer needs through training, networking, and research.
- Utilizes approved marketing materials to present sales proposals, highlighting value propositions and competitive advantages.
- Establishes call plans and customer follow-up strategies; applies time and territory management techniques.
- Influences new construction specifications through engineering relationships and educational presentations.
- Collaborates with operations, finance, legal, and other resources to obtain sales.
- Develops and executes tactical sales strategies targeting end users, developers, consulting engineers, and contractors.
- Prepares sales promotion campaigns for customers to promote product lines in commercial markets.
Requirements
- Two to five years of experience meeting and exceeding quotas selling fire alarm systems to contractors and end users.
- Consistent sales performance with a track record of organically growing business by providing solutions to new clients.
- In-depth understanding of fire alarm life safety systems, low voltage systems, installation, and testing.
- Minimum NICET Level II certification in fire alarm systems.
- Technical aptitude with the ability to interpret drawings and codes.
- Experience selling technical solutions through the contracting tier.
- Effective communication and presentation skills for broad audiences.
- Strong negotiation skills and a competitive spirit.
- Able to travel overnight by air and/or ground as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; candidates with a combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Prior experience selling to electrical contractors is a plus.
- Knowledge of Mircom & Siemens product lines is a plus.
