Fire System Inspector/Technician

About the role

The Fire Inspector/Technician is responsible for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of various fire protection systems. This position also assists in identifying system deficiencies and preparing accurate and timely inspection reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance, service, repairs, and inspections on various fire protection systems.
• Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues, and report results of work completed in an accurate, timely manner.
• Respond to emergency calls and participate in an on-call schedule.
• Interact with customers in a mature and professional manner.
• Protect and maintain company equipment.
• Work in a safe manner at all times by utilizing personal protective equipment in appropriate situations; operate a company motor vehicle in a manner free of accidents and citations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Certifications/licensing on specific fire protection systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to demonstrate knowledge of codes and regulations for the work being performed.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
• Flexible with scheduling requirements that could include working evenings and/or weekends.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently.
• Ability to operate a mobile device/computer to complete work orders, inspection reports, emails, etc.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and ability to pass a drug and background check.

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and have full use of hands.
• Occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Ability to safely work from a ladder, and in some cases, a man-lift.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and travel daily.
