Fire Suppression Technician (Fire Extinguishers)

About the role

The Fire Suppression Technician role involves servicing and inspecting fire extinguishers, refilling and maintaining first aid kits. This position is ideal for someone looking to join a supportive, growing team dedicated to fire safety.

Responsibilities

  • Use required tools and test equipment to repair or replace fire extinguishers, pre-engineered systems, and detection & control systems components.
  • Troubleshoot and identify defective components of pre-engineered suppression systems.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
  • Track work orders using Field Service Lightning and complete documentation.
  • Follow SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures.
  • Attend weekly Toolbox talks and participate in safety training sessions.
  • Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well-maintained.
  • Comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred with state or any required certification.
  • 2 years of Fire Life Safety Industry experience specifically within Fire Suppression.
  • Professional computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Some travel required.
  • Able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders and stairs, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • See in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus.
  • Balance, crouch, drive, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights.
  • Work outside, exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards and noise.
  • Occasionally work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others.
  • Consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.
