About the role

The Fire Sprinkler Technician is responsible for laying out, fabricating, assembling, and installing fire sprinkler systems, as well as maintaining piping systems, fixtures, sprinklers, and industrial processing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install pipe systems and valves
  • Cut, thread, assemble, and bond piping and tubes according to specifications
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, and fittings
  • Remove and replace worn components
  • Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
  • Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
  • Mentor and coach Fire Sprinkler Fitter Apprentices and Helpers on proper installation techniques
  • Ensure company-provided vehicle is clean and well maintained in accordance with company policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Advanced technical school training or related work experience (preferred)
  • Current Fire Sprinkler License (required)
  • 3-5 years’ experience installing pipe systems and valves (required)
  • 5+ years’ experience (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability to comply with drug and alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements

  • Experience with SalesForce and Microsoft Office (preferred)

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently bend, ascend and descend step stools, ladders, and stairs
  • Frequently kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above and below shoulders, stand and walk for extended periods
  • Occasionally balance, crouch, drive, kneel, lift over 50 lbs, sit, stoop, twist, and work at heights
  • Required to see in color, close and far distances, peripheral, depth, and adjust focus

Work Environment

  • Frequent local travel and occasional regional and non-regional travel
  • Frequently work inside and outside in hot/cold temperatures
  • Exposure to loud noises, cramped quarters, dust, fumes, odors, standing on hard surfaces, and electrical hazards
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals, moving machinery, uneven and slippery surfaces
  • Must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies
