Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain all types of fire sprinkler systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, deluge, and foam suppression systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests of systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and meeting all safety standards and regulations.
- Fabricate and install hangers, valves, backflow prevention devices, bells, drains, fire pumps, and stored water supply systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications to determine layout and installation procedures.
- Troubleshoot system malfunctions and carry out necessary repairs.
- Coordinate with other construction professionals, such as electricians and plumbers, to ensure that all aspects of the fire sprinkler system are integrated correctly.
- Provide training and guidance to less experienced team members.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring that all work is carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
- Keep up-to-date with advancements in the field and maintain knowledge of current fire protection standards and codes.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter in the construction industry.
- Certified by the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) or equivalent is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge of fire sprinkler systems, including installation, maintenance, testing, and inspection procedures.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot system malfunctions.
- Strong understanding of fire protection standards and codes.
- Ability to work in a team and coordinate with other construction professionals.
- Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to safety and quality.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy equipment and work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to different job sites as needed.
