About the Role
A Fire Sprinkler Designer is responsible for using computer-aided design (CAD) to create detailed drawings and layouts, calculate dimensions and material requirements, and assist in developing functional, well-designed fire sprinkler systems by translating design concepts into accurate technical plans.
Responsibilities
- Create detailed designs of fire sprinkler systems using specialized CAD software based on the SprinkCAD platform.
- Coordinate sprinkler system piping with other building components.
- Perform hydraulic calculations.
- Read and interpret construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Interpret and apply applicable NFPA standards to the design and/or layout of sprinkler systems based on building type, construction type, hazard classifications, and architectural features.
- Communicate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), contractors, and other trades.
- Coordinate with team members for listing required materials.
- Coordinate with team members for permitting and inspection requirements.
- Actively participate in predesign and review meetings.
- Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures and quality improvement.
- Adhere to company safety policies and procedures to ensure all duties are performed safely and professionally.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
