Description
A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Protection, or Mechanical Engineering, minimum 6 years of work experience. Must be Professionally licensed in the United States.
Responsibilities/Skills
- Perform engineering calculations and layout/design systems in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures, code with minimal to no supervision.
- Apply practical knowledge and experience to resolve problems and conflicts related to projects.
- Occasionally supervise subordinate personnel or assist other engineers/designers.
- Knowledge of discipline-specific codes and other building codes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good leadership skills to educate clients on design and other project requirements.
- Meet with Project Engineer and Project Manager to discuss design scope, schedule, budget, phasing, site issues, and design review issues.
- Prepare design budgets and schedules, estimate man-hours required for project design, and implement system types selected by Project Engineer.
- Review preliminary and final engineering design with other disciplines for function, clearances, coordination, and final design selection. Perform a final review of engineering drawings.
- Client contact.
- Perform quality assurance on projects in coordination with technical manager/project engineer.
- Mentor and motivate Engineering designers I, II, and III.
- Set high standards, maintain professional integrity, and seek the best interests of the company and client.
- Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
