Fire Protection Design Engineer

About the role

P2S is seeking a Fire Protection Design Engineer with 5–9 years of experience. This position offers opportunities to work on diverse, high-impact projects while enhancing technical expertise in fire protection and life safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform fire and building code analysis
• Design fire protection systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, and specialized suppression systems
• Develop system layouts and construction documents
• Conduct sprinkler hydraulic calculations and fire alarm calculations
• Conduct site assessments and prepare technical reports
• Support senior engineers with engineering analyses (e.g., smoke control, hazardous materials, energy storage systems, combustible dust)
• Provide construction phase support, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and participating in punch walks

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• 5–9 years of experience in fire protection system design (sprinkler and/or fire alarm)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
• Experience with sprinkler calculation software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCALC)
• Strong knowledge of Building and Fire Codes and NFPA standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Fire Protection
• Experience with healthcare, education, and/or federal projects
• Experience with project management or business development
• EIT or PE license
• NICET certification (Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm)

Pay

$115,000 - $150,000

Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 remote)
