Fire Marshal, Emerging Talent Intern (Fall)

About the role

The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) Office of The Fire Marshal (OFM) seeks an emerging talent intern to support implementation of fire safety and prevention programs.

Responsibilities

• To identify potential fire life safety hazards.
• To comply with applicable laws and standards.
• To ensure reliability and maintenance of all fire protection systems and equipment.
• To ensure safety of LIRR customers and employees.
• To provide adequate preparation for operational and emergency events.
• To identify all hazards, communicate findings to appropriate personnel / departments, and track remediation.
• To perform other office tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
• A keen eye for detail and ability to work independently while being an active team player.

Required Education

• Matured in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA AND/OR matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA.
• Major(s) Preferred: Fire Science, or related field.

Projects
