Fire Life Safety Director - Corporate Tower

About the role

The Fire Life Safety Director is responsible for protecting life and property through the implementation of the building's fire safety plan. Key responsibilities include managing the Fire Command Station, supervising fire brigades, floor wardens, and deputy floor wardens, conducting fire alarm drills, and acting as a liaison to the NYC Fire Department during emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
  • Manage fire safety teams including Fire Wardens, Deputy Fire Wardens, and Building Evacuation Team members.
  • Conduct fire alarm drills and maintain a written log of critiques.
  • Provide clear direction, information, and assistance to visitors, guests, vendors, and employees.
  • Audit visitor, vendor, and employee access badges/identification cards to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Maintain surveillance and report on suspicious persons and packages.
  • Perform CPR/AED and basic first aid if required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Valid F89 Fire Life Safety Director license.
  • Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills to utilize innovative, wireless technology.
  • Flexible to changing environments and adaptable to different situations.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle high volume general public with calmness and efficiency.
  • Neat and professional appearance.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality.

Qualifications

  • Licensed by the New York State Department of State.
  • Background investigation and pre-employment drug/alcohol test required.
  • Maintain current active status of all required licenses at all times.
  • Handle pressure of working with high volume general public.

Schedule

Full-time, rotating shifts: Saturday - Wednesday, overnight (11PM - 7AM).

Pay

$30 / hour
