Fire Inspector

About the Role

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, is seeking an Inspector to conduct routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Simplex Fire Alarm Systems and similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines. This role involves working with low voltage wiring and associated devices, maintaining a structured inspection schedule, and ensuring all tasks are completed safely and professionally.

Responsibilities

• Test and inspect fire alarm systems for existing and new customers.
• Maintain proper documentation for work performed using provided tools.
• Adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.
• Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
• Work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer needs.
• Perform all duties in a safe and professional manner and maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices like laptops and/or hard copy.
• Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents via mobile device.
• Complete assigned inspections on time.

Requirements

• Installation or Service Experience in testing and inspecting Fire Alarm Equipment.
• Self-starter capable of working with little or no supervision.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
• Capable of performing physical labor.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Basic computer skills – Microsoft (Excel, Word, Outlook) along with Smartphone skills.

Pay

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $20-$26 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
