About the role
The Fire Chief serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Oklahoma City Fire Department, responsible for leadership, management, and administration of all departmental operations, personnel, programs, and strategic initiatives. The Fire Chief directs a metropolitan fire department of sworn and civilian personnel through multiple divisions, including Operations, Fire Prevention Services, Support Services, and the Office of the Fire Chief.

Qualifications
The Fire Chief must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Public Administration, or a related field, and a minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in fire service management, including supervisory experience. Must hold a valid Oklahoma Fire Marshal's Certification and a valid Oklahoma Driver License.
Skills
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure and make quick decisions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with public safety software is preferred.

$173,116.08 - $264,612.24 Annually

- Pay Method: City employees are required to receive pay electronically, either via direct deposit or pay card.

- If the position accepted is cyber security sensitive, internal and external applicants will be subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Interstate Identification Index (III) Fingerprint Background check. Additionally, employees in this job classification must complete Level 4 Security Awareness Training and pass an online certification test.
