Job Requirements - As Determined By the City Of Southfield
- Must be a U.S. citizen and be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
- Must be a full-time student.
- Must be enrolled in a Fire Academy and/or EMT/Paramedic program.
- Must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Must be able to perform all job-related physical abilities.
- Successfully pass a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), Oakland Physical Agility Test (OPAT).
Supplemental Information
- The Southfield Fire Internship Program is used as an applicant pool for hiring entry-level probationary Firefighters for the Southfield Fire Department.
- Participation in the Fire Internship Program does not guarantee employment in a full-time Firefighter position with the City of Southfield.
- Members of the Program will be considered “At-Will” members, participation will be at the sole discretion of the City of Southfield.
