Responsibilities
- Holds full accountability for operational readiness, performance, and effectiveness of the assigned shift.
- Serves as on-duty Fire Brigade Officer and assumes Incident Command during emergency response until formally transferred.
- Establishes incident objectives, tactical strategy, and resource deployment aligned with ICS principles.
- Directs and coordinates all Fire Brigade operations across fire suppression, rescue, EMS, and HAZMAT response.
- Evaluates incident conditions and adjusts strategy in real time to ensure safe and effective outcomes.
- Ensures implementation and consistent application of Fire Brigade policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Led shift briefings, operational planning, and readiness alignment.
- Owns identification, prioritization, and resolution of systemic risks and operational capability gaps.
- Leads incident investigations, corrective action planning, and continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensures corrective actions are implemented, tracked, and sustained across shifts.
- Promotes teamwork and fosters a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Serves as primary shift contact for emergency response coordination with site leadership and external agencies.
- Represents the Fire Brigade in operational planning, risk discussions, and site emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Ensures effective communication and alignment across stakeholders.
- Holds accountability for compliance performance, audit readiness, and regulatory adherence for assigned shift.
- Interprets applicable regulations and ensures consistent implementation across operations.
- Conducts risk assessments, inspections, and ensures timely resolution of identified issues.
- Escalates compliance risks and ensures corrective actions are implemented and sustained.
Qualifications
- Required Education, Certifications, and Licenses:
- Associate’s Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience may substitute for required education.
- Firefighter I and II Certification.
- Fire Officer I Certification or minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Fire Officer within a municipal, industrial, military, or combination fire department.
- FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800 certifications.
- Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, or a related field.
- EMT Certification.
- HazMat Technician Certification.
- Confined Space Rescue Certification.
- Fire Instructor I Certification.
- Additional ICS or NIMS leadership coursework.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of progressive leadership experience in emergency response or related operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex, large-scale technical or manufacturing programs with significant capital investment and cross-functional impact.
- Experience in emergency response operations, including fire suppression, rescue, medical incidents, or hazardous materials response.
- Knowledge of and experience with the Incident Command System (ICS) and National Incident Management System (NIMS).
- Strong understanding of fire behavior, suppression tactics, risk management, and emergency operations.
- Demonstrates the ability to wear and operate in structural firefighting PPE and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a high level of initiative.
