About the role

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for installing, testing, and troubleshooting various fire alarm systems. This role requires strong communication and teamwork skills, as well as knowledge of NFPA standards and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, schematics, and operation manuals.
  • Install, pull, terminate, test, and troubleshoot cables and vendor products.
  • Configure, program, and commission new life safety systems.
  • Document commissioning details and communicate project progress and deficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to NFPA, Local AHJ codes, corporate policies, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Perform test and inspections of fire alarm and related systems.
  • Set up and manage monitoring accounts for fire and security systems.
  • Respond to service calls, including fire alarm systems, ERCES/BDA, card access, CCTV, intrusion, and nurse call systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification Requirements:
    • Required: - FASA/BASA Certification
    • - Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge
  • Preferred: - NICET Certification
  • - FCC GROL Certification
  • - Notifier Certification
  • - Other life safety or systems-related certifications

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of Fire Alarm System experience, including programming and configuration of Notifier systems.
  • Proficiency with NFPA 72, Life Safety Code 101, and IBC.
  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds as needed.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of fire alarm manufacturers (e.g., Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, FCI-Gamewell, Simplex, Siemens, EST) is highly desired.
