Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in compliance with NFPA 72 and local codes.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex fire alarm systems, panels, networks, and devices.
  • Diagnose system deficiencies, determine corrective actions, and complete repairs efficiently.
  • Interface directly with customers, building owners, and AHJs regarding system performance and compliance.
  • Complete detailed service reports, inspection documentation, and deficiency reports accurately and timely.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Fire Alarm Technician I and II personnel.
  • Assist with system upgrades, retrofits, and special projects.
  • Support emergency service calls and on-call rotation as required.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, vehicles, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.

Education And/or Experience

  • High school diploma and 5-7+ years of fire alarm service or installation experience.
  • NICET Level III or IV in Fire Alarm Systems preferred (or ability to obtain).
  • Advanced knowledge of fire alarm systems, components, and diagnostics.
  • Strong working knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), and local AHJ requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams, plans, and specifications.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency with fire alarm panels, devices, and testing equipment.
  • Able to use mobile service software, smartphones, and basic computer applications.
  • Familiarity with system manufacturers such as Notifier or equivalent preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work at heights and in occupied buildings.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Field-based role at commercial, industrial, and multi-family properties.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and electrical environments.
  • On-call rotation and occasional overtime may be required.
