About the role

This field role performs scheduled fire alarm inspections and testing, responds to service calls, troubleshoots deficiencies, and completes repairs for commercial, industrial, healthcare, and educational customers in the Jacksonville, Florida area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled inspection and testing of fire alarm systems and associated initiating, notification, supervisory, communication, and control functions in accordance with applicable NFPA 72, Florida Fire Prevention Code, manufacturer, customer, and AHJ requirements.
  • Diagnose trouble and supervisory conditions, ground faults, communication failures, device issues, and other system deficiencies; complete repairs or recommend corrective action.
  • Service, maintain, program, and repair fire alarm control panels, notification appliances, initiating devices, power supplies, communicators, and related interfaces within the assigned scope of work.
  • Accurately document device-level test results, deficiencies, impairments, corrective actions, parts used, and customer acknowledgments in required electronic or paper reports.
  • Communicate inspection findings and repair priorities clearly to customers; coordinate access, testing notifications, monitoring-center contacts, and restoration of systems.
  • Support permit inspections and acceptance testing when assigned, coordinating with the Fire Marshal/AHJ, project managers, monitoring centers, and other trades.
  • Maintain test equipment, tools, vehicle, and inventory; follow impairment, lockout/tagout, fall-protection, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and travel throughout Jacksonville/Duval County and the surrounding Northeast Florida service area as scheduled.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant electrical, electronics, or fire alarm technical training preferred.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience servicing, inspecting, and testing commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Current Florida Fire Alarm System Agent (FASA) qualification and employer-issued photo identification card preferred. Otherwise, must be able to complete the board-approved 14-hour initial training and required Florida Department of Law Enforcement fingerprint/background check within 90 days of employment while working under company sponsorship and direction.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and able to maintain FASA eligibility, required continuing education, biennial background screening, and the employer-issued FASA identification card while performing covered duties.
