About the role
Join our dynamic team as a Fire Alarm Project Technician. You will install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training and all associated documentation on assigned installation projects including more complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Install, program, perform system start-up/check-out, testing/commissioning, customer training and all associated documentation on assigned installation projects including more complex projects.
- Work with Fire Alarm Designer to ensure fire alarm system meets all relevant codes and standards.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and/or Operations Manager and assists in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding quality of work and potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve custom er.
- Refers more complex issues to higher level colleagues.
- Coaches and mentors less experienced technicians.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
- Ability to convey complex subject matter to a non-technical audience.
- To be a self-starter and work well with little supervision.
- Willing to learn technical skills and/or experience related to fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper).
- Experience programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning Edwards or equivalent fire alarm systems of small to medium scale.
- Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced technicians.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Possess NICET Level II in Fire Alarm.
- Possess low voltage electrical license as required by local/state.
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience.
- TX Fire Alarm Installer License (required).
- NICET Certification (preferred but not required).
- EST Certification (preferred but not required).
- Associate degree in Electronics or related field including equivalent military experience (preferred but not required).
