About the role

We are seeking a Fire Alarm Project Manager responsible for the overall success of construction projects for fire alarm, security, BDA, and voice and data systems. Success is defined as delivering profitable projects on schedule with high quality by managing DynaFire personnel. The ideal candidate will analyze a project and guide it through planning, execution, monitoring/controlling, and closing.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize profitability of assigned projects, including invoicing for materials and equipment and applying labor resources efficiently.
  • Ensure DynaFire is never the reason a certificate of occupancy fails the first inspection.
  • Oversee programming of fire alarm and other systems on a project; assign programming tasks but remain ultimately responsible.
  • Approve or reject project designs from sales; conduct hand-off meetings with sales representatives.
  • Secure and maintain project folders for each assignment.
  • Communicate project needs to all stakeholders, including DynaFire teams, customers, and clients.
  • Promptly address and communicate any project-related issues with the customer.
  • Manage mobilization, wiring, trimming, final connections, programming, pretesting, troubleshooting, final testing, and documentation delivery.
  • Assist sales in writing RFIs and change orders.
  • Program fire alarm panels, including maintaining necessary licenses.
  • Guide DynaFire personnel on proper product application to comply with industry codes and local jurisdiction requirements.
  • Assist the Engineering department in creating accurate documentation.
  • Attend project meetings as needed by sales or the customer.
  • Train and instruct installation workforce and peers, as well as customers on equipment use.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, shop and contract drawings, and specifications.
  • Operate tools such as volt and ohm meters, oscilloscopes, multimeters, tone generators, and battery testers.
  • Maintain and deliver specialty construction tools for projects.
  • Acquire and maintain required tools from the tool list.
  • Track labor, material, equipment, punch lists, and RFIs.
  • Comply with DynaFire’s and customers’ safety programs.
  • Provide necessary reports to management.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of construction tools, including lifts and wire-pulling devices.
  • Acquire, install, and program DynaNet radios; provide information to the DynaNet Network Manager for account creation.
  • Interpret contract documents and specifications.
  • Ensure as-builts are submitted at the end of each project phase or regularly for larger projects.
  • Communicate effectively with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Interface with the Engineering department to improve system delivery.
  • Ensure technicians’ time cards are completed, processed, and allocated properly; review profitability reports.
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production.
  • Assist management in monthly billings to optimize cash flow.
  • Maintain technical and professional certifications; promote professional development.
  • Follow Construction Department Policies and Procedures and uphold DynaFire’s 8 Core Values.
  • Align product and service delivery with DynaFire’s Mission Statement.
  • Recruit, select, orient, and train construction staff.
  • Motivate staff through counseling, appraisals, and discipline.
  • Work with the Construction Team Manager to forecast rough-in schedules for all projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Obtain NICET Level II within 12 months, NICET Level III within 24 months, and NICET Level IV within 36 months.
  • Obtain and maintain all Notifier Onyx Series certifications within 18 months.
  • Participate in required DynaFire-sponsored training.
  • Learn and implement the five project management process groups.
