About the Role

The Fire Alarm & Security Manager provides oversight of the overall management, operations, and financial performance for the assigned area(s). As a subject matter expert, you will achieve communicated objectives related to profitability, growth, and performance metrics. This role involves strategic planning, financial management, and ensuring operational excellence within local, state, and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the assigned fire alarm & security department, including inspections, services, and installations.
  • Manage financial performance as indicated on Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, including gross revenue, gross margin, and overhead.
  • Communicate and strategize with management about financial progress, growth strategies, and human capital requirements.
  • Ensure proper execution of internal workflow, fieldwork, quality assurance, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain proper staffing levels using company procedures and HR support.
  • Oversee the use, maintenance, and repair of company assets, including equipment, tools, and fleet.
  • Conduct spot checks, ride-a-longs, and ongoing training to monitor and improve fieldwork quality and efficiency.
  • Review and adjust technician routes for efficiency and provide training on scheduling.
  • Lead monthly shop meetings, including Safety Toolbox Talks.
  • Attend and monitor install project meetings and coordinate final checkout/commissioning with AHJs, owners, architects, and contractors.
  • Ensure communication between Sales and Operations for planning and scheduling.
  • Oversee material preparation, orders, job staging, and tool readiness.
  • Manage material orders and standard stock quantities in coordination with the Purchasing department.
  • Oversee accurate and timely invoicing practices with the Billing department.
  • Support business development and participate in quote presentations for legacy customers.
  • Promote and coordinate continuing education and certification for employees.
  • Perform Technician duties as needed to achieve overall goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required). Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent (preferred).
  • NICET or state-specific certification (preferred).
  • 7 years of Fire Life Safety Industry experience, specifically in Fire Alarm (required).
  • NICET Level 1 Fire Alarm Certification (required).
  • Fire Alarm Systems Agent (FASA) Certification (required).
  • 7 years of professional computer skills.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience within Fire Alarm.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to comply with drug and alcohol policy and background screening requirements, including customer-specific requirements.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time, locally.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Experience with business intelligence systems, Sage 300 CRE, or similar (preferred).

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequent bending, ascending/descending ladders/stairs, kneeling, lifting under 50 lbs, reaching above/below shoulders, standing, and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional balancing, crouching, driving, kneeling, lifting over 50 lbs, sitting, stooping, twisting, and working at heights.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, including hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise.
  • Occasional indoor office work, both alone and with others.
  • Consistent use of personal protective equipment as required by company safety policies.
  • Ability to see in color, at close/far distances, with peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
