About the Role

We are seeking a Fire Alarm/Low Voltage Technician for commercial construction projects, primarily in the K-12 and government sectors. This role involves installing, wiring, and troubleshooting fire alarm, voice/data, and security systems. The ideal candidate will be capable of reading blueprints and working with minimal supervision on a job site after an initial period of being paired with a senior technician.

Responsibilities

  • Install fire alarm, voice/data, and security systems.
  • Install commercial and industrial electrical power systems and conduit.
  • Pull and terminate Cat 5/Cat 6 wires for low voltage systems.
  • Install and wire field devices, including fishing walls and doors.
  • Troubleshoot circuit opens, shorts, or ground conditions.
  • Read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams to follow specifications.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and expense reports, and maintain as-built drawings.
  • Comply with industry standards and safety programs, including NFPA 70 and NFPA 72 installation requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in commercial low voltage installation.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems is preferred, but experience with structured cabling, data, CCTV, or access control is also acceptable.
  • Experience with Cat 5/Cat 6 wire pulling and termination.
  • Possess basic hand tools such as a screwdriver and wire strippers.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (required for travel to job sites).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fire alarm panels (Notifier or Potter) or programming.
  • FASA/BASA certification.

Pay

$20–$25 per hour.

Schedule

6-month contract to hire, on-site in Orlando, Florida.
