About the role
As a Fire Alarm Service Technician at Encore, you will be a key part of keeping our customers’ life safety systems operating the way they should when it matters most. You will inspect, test, program, service, and troubleshoot a wide range of fire alarm systems, ensuring they are compliant, reliable, and ready to perform. This is a field-based role with variety and autonomy, moving from site to site, solving problems in real-time, and working directly with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Service, program, test, inspect, and troubleshoot both basic and complex fire alarm systems.
- Perform routine maintenance and corrective repairs in accordance with NFPA 72 and company standards.
- Identify code deficiencies and provide clear, professional recommendations for system improvements.
- Respond to emergency calls as required, including participation in nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.
- Collaborate with contractors, building personnel, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Document service activities accurately, including findings, work performed, and parts used.
- Maintain clear communication with customers, supervisors, and office staff regarding status, next steps, and any concerns.
- Uphold Encore’s commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction on every job site.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or industry-related experience preferred.
- Valid electrical license, in accordance with state-specific requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within your assigned territory.
- Strong understanding of NFPA 72, NEC, OSHA regulations, and fire alarm system theory.
- Hands-on experience working with fire alarm systems from major manufacturers such as Notifier, Siemens, Edwards, Simplex, Fire Lite, Gamewell FCI, and Honeywell.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through issues methodically.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple service assignments, and prioritize your day.

Qualifications
- Three or more years of experience inspecting, servicing, or repairing fire alarm systems.
- NICET certification in water-based systems for inspection, testing, or layout.
- Experience supporting both service and small project work.
- Experience mentoring or supporting apprentices or less experienced technicians in the field.
- Experience working across multiple manufacturers and comfort adapting to different panels and devices.
- Reputation for clean, complete documentation and proactive customer communication.
