Fintech Risk Management Specialist
About the Role
The Payment team of U.S. Data Security department of TikTok provides payment solutions—including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, and reconciliations—to ensure users have a smooth and secure payment experience on the TikTok platform. In this role, you will be responsible for the health of our financial ecosystem. You will dive into vast datasets to identify sophisticated FinTech fraud typologies in real-time—such as card testing, synthetic identity clusters, and account takeovers (ATO)—and translate these findings into robust operational processes. Your goal is to resolve manual bottlenecks by working with product and engineering to implement AI-driven tooling and AI Agents that automate dispute evidence ingestion and payment signals, ensuring our response to fraud is as fast as the attacks themselves.
Responsibilities
- Fraud Investigation: Analyze user behavior, device fingerprints, and login patterns to identify ATO (Account Takeover) and collusion. Build automated triggers to freeze suspicious accounts before financial loss occurs. Perform hands-on risk reviews for high-value transactions and complex cases to stay grounded in the latest fraud trends.
- Chargeback & Dispute Strategy: Oversee the end-to-end contestment process. Use data to identify winnable chargebacks, automate evidence-gathering to improve win rates, and enhance system performance for automated representment.
- SOP Design & Optimization: Develop and maintain rigorous Risk Operations SOPs. Conduct gap analyses on existing manual reviews to determine where human intervention is required versus where AI can take over.
- AI and Automation Implementation: Identify opportunities to replace manual workflows with AI agents. Partner with Engineering to implement solutions such as OCR, LLM-based document parsing, and automated risk scoring.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: 1+ years in a quantitative analytical role, specifically within Risk Operations, Trust & Safety, or FinTech.
- Technical Stack: SQL is required; Python for data analysis is a plus. Experience building reporting suites in BI tools such as Tableau.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- BPO Management: Experience managing external vendors or large-scale moderation workforces.
- AI/ML Experience: Hands-on experience implementing AI agents or machine learning models to automate operational workflows (e.g., using LLMs for text classification or Vision models for ID verification).
