Fintech Business Analyst

Responsibilities

• Engage with clients and prospects to gather deep insights into their operational needs and requirements when launching a financial product using Methodic.
• Document current and proposed workflows in detail (using flowcharts, use cases, etc.), covering everything from how money moves through our system to how exceptions are handled.
• Analyze regulatory requirements in different jurisdictions and translate them into clear business rules or system requirements.
• Work with the product manager to prioritize requirements and clarify details during the design phase of new features or modules.
• Aid QA in creating test scenarios that reflect real-world usage and compliance scenarios, ensuring that developed features truly meet the business needs.
• Participate in user acceptance testing, sometimes alongside clients, to validate that new features or configurations meet their business requirements before full rollout.
• Continuously research industry best practices and emerging fintech trends, suggesting improvements or new workflows that Methodic should support.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a business analyst or similar role in the financial services or fintech domain.
• Strong understanding of financial products and services (banking operations, trading systems, payments, etc.) and the typical business processes behind them.
• Familiarity with compliance and regulatory frameworks (e.g., AML/KYC processes, financial reporting standards, consumer data protection laws) and ability to interpret how they apply to software requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail – you can take a complex process and break it down into clear, actionable requirements.
• Effective communication skills, including the ability to run meetings or workshops to elicit information, and to write thorough documentation (requirements docs, user stories, process diagrams) that developers and testers can readily follow.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment is a plus (writing user stories, working with Jira or similar tools).
• A proactive mindset – you anticipate potential gaps or issues and address them before they become problems (for example, spotting a regulation change on the horizon and flagging it early for the product team).
