About the role
We are seeking a 2nd Shift Finishing Operator to focus on setup and operation of commercial label inspector machines, including visual quality control. The role involves operating equipment to slit continuous lengths of printed material into strips of specified width.
Responsibilities
- Receives job assignments from Press Supervisor or Team Lead; reads job specifications and selects correct cores and rewind method for job
- Reviews job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed
- Inspects products to ensure quality integrity and packages products
- Observes flow of material through machine to detect irregular cutting and winding
- Ensures quality of work to include color, size, die cut, perforations, print, and quantity of packaged items being shipped
- Assists in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging of converting jobs
- Performs preventative maintenance on machines
- Removes or replaces blades on inspection machines
- Completes paperwork for each job and packages finished goods for shipment to customer
- Keeps work areas clear and organized; maintains housekeeping standards
Requirements
- Ability to read and follow job specifications and select correct cores and rewind methods
- Experience inspecting products for quality integrity and packaging finished goods
- Attention to detail in detecting irregular cutting, winding, and ensuring product quality (color, size, die cut, perforations, print, quantity)
- Ability to assist in cutting, collating, wrapping, and packaging tasks
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on machinery
- Ability to remove or replace blades on inspection machines
- Proficiency in completing job-related paperwork and preparing shipments
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work area
