Finishing Operator - 3rd Shift

About the Role

The Finishing Operator is responsible for the final inspection of finished hose. The Operator will measure and cut hose to length per packaging specifications, wind hose onto spools or coil hose, and place it in a box.

Responsibilities

• Operate all Inspect and Pack lines and applicable software according to procedure.
• Monitor production equipment while in operation to ensure product quality.
• Ensure production equipment is safe and operated safely by all personnel.
• Use Pi Tapes and Plug Gauges correctly to ensure product quality.
• Identify and eliminate known defects, and document all good and non-conforming products.
• Work overtime as required, including extended shifts and weekends, to meet business needs.
• Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Notify management of unsafe conditions, unlawful activities, or activities presenting unreasonable health or environmental risk.
• Report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately.
• Prevent excess waste of product and/or components by operating equipment efficiently.
• Maintain production schedules.
• Participate in peer-based teams (e.g., Natural High Performance Teams) and work with groups to implement programs such as Lean Manufacturing and 5-S.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Production work experience preferred but not required.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
• Sound decision-making skills.
• Good math, reading, and writing skills.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Strong troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to exercise continuous mental, visual, and audio attention.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes.
• Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks.
• Constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail.
• Must pass pre-employment screening.

Organizational Relationships

• Work closely with Maintenance to resolve equipment issues.

• Work in areas requiring safety equipment (steel toe shoes, eye protection, hearing protection).
• Standing required for extended periods.
