Finishing Assistant
About the role
At Mittera Wisconsin, our Finishing Assistant role is a great way to get hands-on experience and build a long-term career in our bindery department. In this role, you’ll work alongside experienced operators to prepare materials, monitor product quality, package finished goods, and help keep production running efficiently. You’ll gain exposure to a variety of finishing equipment and processes, building the skills needed to grow within our department. We believe in promoting from within, and this position can lead to opportunities to advance into roles operating equipment such as folders, saddle stitchers, perfect binders, and other bindery machinery as you develop your skills and experience.
Responsibilities
- Prepare materials for finishing processes such as loading, stacking, and staging printed product
- Monitor product quality during finishing to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to job specifications
- Perform routine quality checks including alignment, trimming, folding accuracy, and finished product integrity
- Feed, catch, and package printed materials from finishing equipment
- Label, palletize, and prepare completed jobs for shipping or next production step
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards
- Absorb and communicate production or quality issues to operators or supervisors in a timely manner
- Follow all company safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and machine safety protocols
- All other duties as assigned by your operator or supervisor
Requirements
- 1 - 2 years of previous manufacturing experience preferred
- Ability to read work instructions and business memos
- Effective communication skills and attention to detail
Physical Requirements
- Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling, and bending
- Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 50lbs occasionally
