Finish Inspector A 1st Shift, Drives System Center

About the Role

Inspect and audit products in accordance with work instructions, blueprints, specifications, Digital Design Media (DDM), and/or management directives to determine product acceptance. This includes visual examination and use of special inspection instruments, gages, tools, or methods such as Nital Etch Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection, and Magnetic Particle Inspection to detect internal and external indications like cracks, defects, or flaws.

Inspect parts, assemblies, and materials for defects associated with finishes, coatings, and processes including plating, painting, heat treating, and other processing. Perform process checks, maintain records, and prepare reports as required. Conduct preliminary and/or final disposition functions in accordance with specifications and standards. Set and calibrate Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) equipment and similar tools to meet test specifications. Review overall part condition and aesthetics.

Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and within a team, as well as assist inspection personnel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections using visual examination and specialized tools/methods (e.g., Nital Etch, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle Inspection).
• Inspect parts, assemblies, and materials for defects in finishes, coatings, and processes (e.g., plating, painting, heat treating).
• Complete process checks and maintain proper records and reports.
• Perform preliminary and/or final disposition functions according to specifications and standards.
• Set and calibrate Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) equipment and tools.
• Review overall part condition and aesthetics.
• Use portable equipment, work aids, and holding devices as necessary.
• Communicate effectively in written and verbal form.
• Work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of related inspection experience, including finishes, coatings, and processes.
• Three (3) years’ experience as a certified Level II Liquid Penetrant Inspector and Magnetic Particle Inspector per NAS 410 or equivalent, with ability to re-certify at Bell.
• New employees must re-certify prior to completing their probationary period; upgrading employees must re-certify prior to completing their upgrade trial period.
• Must provide documentation of formal training and experience hours.
• Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee).

Tools & Equipment Used

• Inspector’s hand and marking tools.
• Material-testing equipment (e.g., Magnaflux, Rockwell, Zyglo, Brinell).
• Precision measuring instruments and special testing devices.
• Electronic systems and data administration tools (e.g., Electronic Planning, CAMS, First Article Inspections, SAP, Enovia, VQM, surveillance systems, timekeeping systems, calibration systems).
