About the Role

The mission of Louisiana Virtual Charter Academy (LAVCA) is to offer an exemplary individualized and engaging educational experience for students by incorporating school and community/family partnerships, a rigorous curriculum, and a data-driven, student-centered instructional model.

The remote CTE Fine Arts Teacher is a state-certified or alternatively certified CTE Teacher responsible for delivering specific course content in an online environment. The teacher provides instruction, support, and guidance, manages the learning process, and focuses on students' individual needs while monitoring progress through K12’s learning management system. Teachers work actively with students and parents to advance learning and develop plans for post-secondary success using online tools like Career Builder and Career Cruising.

This is a full-time, home-based position requiring the ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week, and maintain a professional home office without distraction during work hours (typically 9-5 or 8-4, or as defined by the school).

Responsibilities

  • Provides rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students.
  • Commits to personalizing learning for all students and demonstrates a belief in every student’s ability to succeed.
  • Differentiates instruction based on student level of mastery.
  • Augments course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools.
  • Maintains grade book, ensures student academic integrity, makes student placement and promotion decisions, and alerts administrators to concerns about student performance.
  • Prepares students for high-stakes standardized tests.
  • Establishes and maintains positive rapport with families and regularly communicates with students and learning coaches/parents.
  • Supports learning coaches/parents with student curricular and instructional issues, as well as basic troubleshooting in a virtual classroom environment.
  • Maintains and effectively applies knowledge of State, National, and Industry-Specific learning standards.
  • Develops effective instructional tools and strategies to supplement and enhance provided curriculum.
  • Collaborates regularly with the school and national professional learning community.
  • Administers and proctors certification assessments where applicable.
  • Serves as an Advisor for Career & Technical Student Organization.
  • Supports CTE Program Coordinator/school/program with creating business and industry partnerships to facilitate work-based learning experiences for students.
  • Supports a project-based learning model.
  • Travels up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Active state teaching license.
  • Appropriate state Department of Education Fine Arts CTE Teaching Certification.
  • Ability to clear required background check.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data, and use it to drive instructional decisions.
  • Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers.
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with the proposed age group.
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology.
  • Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment.
  • Experience with online learning platforms.

Pay

Salaries will differ based on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. The anticipated salary range for this position is $43,877.00 - $65,815.00. Eligible employees may receive a bonus.
