About the role

To deliver excellent patient-centered service in a medical office setting by scheduling patient appointments, collecting co-payments, pre-payments, and other payments, reviewing patient balances, entering charges promptly and accurately, processing referrals, and maintaining a comfortable wait experience for patients based on practice protocols and UF Health Physicians policies and procedures. Greets patients professionally and provides a patient-friendly point of entry and/or exit. May be required to float to other practices or flex time, as needed, for staffing.

Responsibilities

  • Enter charges promptly and accurately

  • Maintain a comfortable wait experience for patients
  • Greet patients professionally
  • Float to other practices or adjust time as needed for staffing

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One year of experience in financial services, business operations, physician office settings, or customer service required
  • Two years of business, financial, or physician practice experience preferred
  • An associate degree or equivalent coursework may substitute for the one year of required experience

Skills

  • Knowledge and experience verifying patient demographics and insurance information preferred
  • Strong customer service skills with excellent communication and telephone etiquette
  • Familiarity with CPT and diagnosis coding preferred
  • Ability to professionally collect patient payments and discuss financial responsibilities
  • Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain accuracy, attention to detail, and professionalism when handling sensitive financial and patient information

Licensure/Certification/Registration: None required. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: None required.
