Financial Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Develop guidelines for financial processes and procedures.
• Research, analyze, and resolve inconsistencies between internal financial reports.
• Provide written responses to significant developments in financial programs for dissemination to employees and managers.
• Ensure the reasonableness and accuracy of financial data.
• Identify and perform in-depth analysis of financial transactions to recognize and resolve issues.
• Maintain current knowledge of developments affecting the financial program.
• Provide input or advice to financial analysts or other specialists.

Requirements

• You must be a US Citizen or US National.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
• Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
• Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.
• Federal payments must be made by direct deposit to your financial institution.
• Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• False statements or responses on a resume or application can jeopardize employment and may be grounds for disciplinary action, including removal from Federal service.
• If selected, you may need to complete a Declaration for Federal Employment (OF-306) prior to being appointed to determine suitability for Federal employment and to authorize a background investigation.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-12 level) that demonstrates:

• Researched, analyzed, and resolved inconsistencies in internal financial reports to ensure accuracy and alignment with program requirements;
• Conducted in-depth analyses of financial transactions to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions;
• Ensured the reasonableness, reliability, and accuracy of financial data through comprehensive review and verification practices;
• Interpreted complex and ambiguous financial management and accounting guidelines, applying advanced technical judgment to resolve issues;
• Assessed the implications of adopting financial proposals and policy changes, providing recommendations based on sound financial analysis;

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
