About the role
The successful candidate will join a collaborative, entrepreneurial team and work alongside representing financial institutions, broker-dealers, financial advisors, and other industry participants in complex litigation, arbitration, regulatory, and employment-related matters. The position is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience defending and prosecuting sophisticated matters before FINRA arbitration panels, state and federal courts, and regulatory bodies, including FINRA and the SEC.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support all phases of litigation and arbitration, including case assessment, discovery, motion practice, depositions, hearings, and trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, arbitration submissions, and correspondence.
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
- Participate in FINRA arbitrations and regulatory matters involving financial advisors, broker-dealers, and financial institutions.
- Work directly with partners and clients on employment, restrictive covenant, securities, and commercial litigation matters.
- Attend client meetings, witness interviews, hearings, mediation sessions, and arbitrations.
- Collaborate with a high-performing team on complex, nationally significant financial services disputes.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the Florida Bar.
- A minimum of one year of litigation experience, preferably involving commercial litigation, employment litigation, securities litigation, financial services disputes, or arbitration.
- Experience with FINRA matters, securities disputes, or restrictive covenant litigation is a plus, but not required.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills including a strong aptitude for managing and prioritizing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfortable handling depositions and court appearances commensurate with experience.
- A thorough knowledge and understanding of local, state and federal rules of procedure.
- Ability to work with a variety of attorneys and staff, and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
