About the role
Work on some of the most interesting bankruptcy cases in the country. Tasks include the purchase of assets out of bankruptcy; restructuring companies; representing key constituents; handling bankruptcy-related litigation.
Responsibilities
- Familiarity with bankruptcy law and related issues (e.g., securities laws, commercial laws)
- Prior experience with complex reorganization cases
- Primary, front-line responsibility
- As much as appropriate: depends on experience and client skills – no preconceived limitation
- Some travel should be expected, although travel varies from case to case
- We expect that under ordinary circumstances all full-time associates will strive to work at least 2,000 hours per year on client matters for which time is recorded (i.e., litigation or transactional matters, including pro bono).
Qualifications
- Outstanding achievement, including excellent law school record, strong references, and proven litigation and writing skills
- Candidates may apply prior to taking the exam but must sit for (and obtain) admission to the California Bar
- A J.D. from an ABA accredited law school is required
