Caturus, founded by Kimmeridge – an alternative asset manager focused on the energy sector – supports Kimmeridge’s goal of providing low-cost energy with the lowest carbon footprint. Caturus is building the only independent, fully integrated natural gas and LNG export platform in the U.S. through upstream operations and Commonwealth LNG, a 9.5 million tonnes per annum liquefied natural gas export terminal in southwestern Louisiana. The combined entities deliver responsibly sourced, low-emission fuel to domestic and international markets.

About the role

Caturus is seeking an experienced Manager, Financial Reporting to support the Financial Reporting function for the upstream business unit. This individual will be responsible for the timely preparation of external U.S. GAAP-compliant financial statements for Caturus Energy, LLC, accounting research, and coordination with external auditors. The role collaborates across operations, commercial, tax, treasury, and FP&A, serving as a subject matter resource for financial reporting matters. The Manager will drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, controls, and systems and report to the Director of Financial Reporting at Caturus corporate headquarters in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare periodic external financial statements and footnotes, assist with internal management reports, bank compliance reports, and ad hoc reports for the upstream business unit.
  • Prepare MD&A for Caturus Energy LLC as required by certain indentures.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop upstream financial reporting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Analyze operating trends, liquidity, working capital, and key financial ratios.
  • Assist with research and preparation of technical accounting memos for complex accounting matters and transactions.
  • Monitor and assess new accounting pronouncements and assist with implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and maintain an effective internal control environment over financial reporting.
  • Serve as financial statement audit liaison with external auditors, reviewing items required for financial statement audits (PBCs).
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency, data quality, and control effectiveness.
  • Maintain debt covenant compliance calculations and reporting.
  • Ensure deadlines are met, including issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Assist management in due diligence activity for potential acquisitions and other transactions.
  • Handle special accounting and analytics projects assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required).
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (a plus).
  • 8+ years of experience with at least 3 years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Preference for both public accounting and industry experience; upstream experience a strong plus.

Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialized technical accounting applicable to oil and gas companies; upstream preferred.
  • Proficient in accounting technical pronouncements, research, and analysis.
  • Experience building and/or maturing SOX 404 internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Proven leadership abilities managing and mentoring a team of direct reports.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to interface effectively with management and auditors.
  • Strong data management skills; ability to format, model, and analyze.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; strong PowerPoint skills to independently build polished, board-ready presentations with charts, graphs, and supporting content for Audit Committee meetings.
  • General proficiency in Word and Outlook.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and eager to collaborate and expand knowledge base.
  • Proven ability to perform under pressure and adjust to meet frequently changing needs and requirements.
