About the company

Talking Rain Beverage Company creates better-for-you beverages featuring great flavors and colors from natural sources. Our portfolio includes Sparkling Ice, Sparkling Ice Caffeine, Sparkling Ice Energy, and Popwell. We invest in our team — called Rain Makers — with benefits and development opportunities that reflect how much we value them.

About the role

Our Finance team loves digging into the details to drive profitability while providing excellent customer service. In this role, you'll be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the company's financial statements and external reporting, manage the external audit, and support tax and treasury activities. Talking Rain has transitioned Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Record-to-Report (RTR) to a managed service model. While you will not own AP or AR, you will partner closely with the managed service provider to review close deliverables, uphold strong controls and governance, and drive continuous process improvement throughout the Finance department and the company as a whole.

This position reports to the Sr. Director, Finance and directly supervises the AP Controls & T&E Accountant. The role is onsite at our Preston, WA office. Annual bonus potential is 13%, with eligibility based on the company hitting annual financial targets. Base salary range is $125,000–$160,000 depending on experience; new hires typically receive between minimum and midpoint, with potential to go slightly higher based on experience, internal equity, and market.

Responsibilities

  • Own the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close review, overseeing RTR deliverables prepared by the managed service provider (journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and flux analysis) to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with US GAAP.
  • Ensure issuance of accurate and useful financial and management reporting (financial statements) for internal, external, lender, and Board use.
  • Manage annual external financial statement audits and other regulatory audits, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and coordinating requests across internal teams and the managed service provider.
  • Coordinate with the company's external tax provider by preparing and providing the financial data, schedules, and supporting documentation needed for federal, state, and local tax returns; review draft returns and respond to tax inquiries as needed.
  • Support treasury activities, including cash reporting, review of bank reconciliations, covenant compliance, and preparation of reporting materials for the bank.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor internal controls across the end-to-end accounting process, including controls performed by the managed service provider for AP, AR, and RTR.
  • Monitor managed service performance against agreed service levels and KPIs, escalating issues and partnering with the provider on corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Lead and develop the AP Controls & T&E Accountant, who oversees AP controls, governance, and T&E compliance in partnership with the India-based AP team; set goals and objectives, coach, and foster a collaborative and results-driven culture.
  • Partner with the managed service AP and AR teams to resolve issues, ensure proper cutoff and accruals, and maintain documented policies, procedures, and desk manuals.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts, and support gross margin and profit and loss analysis as needed.
  • Identify and drive process improvement and automation opportunities, including within D365 and the managed service model.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Onsite presence

We create connections with every sip, and we've found a lot of value in in-person connections. As a young, fast-growing company, we're still creating and refining the systems that will fuel our future growth. Onsite presence matters because it speeds decision-making — having the right people in the same room means questions get answered and roadblocks get cleared instantly, which is critical when building for scale and aligning priorities across departments. It strengthens cross-functional execution by bringing together Finance, Marketing, Supply Chain, and other teams, ensuring the right voices are at the table at the right time. It enables richer, faster feedback loops through real-time observation and discussion with Rain Makers across departments, helping us spot gaps, adapt processes, and improve outcomes immediately.

Requirements

  • Certified Public Accountant license required
  • 3 years of Public Accounting experience preferred
  • At least five (5) years of broad accounting and financial experience, including people leadership

  • Experience working with or overseeing outsourced, shared service, or offshore accounting teams preferred
  • Knowledge and experience working with ERP (D365 experience preferred, but not required)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Power-user in Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude) to automate tasks, improve analysis, or streamline accounting processes preferred
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, occasionally working evenings and weekends for special assignments
