About the role

Primary purpose: The financial analyst will collaborate with Accounting, Treasury, and other Department officers to produce financial information and analysis regarding the financial strategic objectives of Southern Bank.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and preparation of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial plans
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including budget to actual variances and branch and producer profitability reports to ensure understanding of key drivers with business leaders
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial analysis packages for the executive team and board of directors
  • Assist in development, enhancement and maintenance of detailed financial models for loan and deposit products, including pricing, volume, and profitability analysis
  • Complete regular and ad‑hoc reporting as well as the preparation of key presentations and special projects as required
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives including growth and revenue initiatives, branch optimization, and cost efficiency
  • Support automation and efficiency improvements in financial modeling, reporting, and analytics
  • Ensure the confidentiality of customer non‑public personal information and secure information systems to comply with bank regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; or three years’ related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience working with large datasets; familiarity with SQL or other coding languages is preferred
