FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ANALYST

About the role

You will serve as a FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT ANALYST in the COMPTROLLER DEPARTMENT (C600) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Duties include researching and analyzing errors from the official accounting system, supporting data calls and audit requests, processing outgoing funding documents, and ensuring correct recording of accounting transactions.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze errors from the official accounting system and non-labor transactions from the COST system.
• Support all data calls from the Budget Submitting Office (BSO) and all FIAR audit requests and FIAR efforts.
• Research, modify, and post obligations into an official accounting system such as SABRS or Navy ERP.
• Process current year outgoing funding documents by keying required accounting information into the shipyard COST system.
• Ensure the accounting transactions are recorded correctly in the official accounting system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Must meet time-in-grade requirements.
• Must be registered for Selective Service.

Qualifications

• To qualify for the GS-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
• Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: experience reconciling data between financial and managerial systems, creating reports, diagrams, and metrics in excel from financial reporting data, identifying, analyzing, and resolving financial issues between financial and managerial systems, general knowledge of the USSGL, and experience presenting metrics to management explaining issues with resolution.
