Financial Crime Review Analyst

The Financial Crime Review Analyst performs transaction activity reviews, investigations, and customer due diligence on clients flagged for potentially suspicious activity, sanctions list matches, or elevated risk for money laundering and terrorist financing. This role ensures reviews and investigations meet regulatory expectations and assists with Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) for higher-risk customers.
Responsibilities
- Review and investigate alerts, perform enhanced due diligence, and make risk-based SAR recommendations.
- Conduct periodic holistic reviews of higher-risk individuals or entities.
- Investigate potential matches with sanctions lists.
- Maintain functional and operational knowledge of regulations, including BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and Sanctions Screening.
- Assist in delivering financial crime consulting services to financial services companies, including banks, money service businesses (MSBs), third-party payment providers, and FinTechs.
- Handle other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in financial services, financial crime compliance, retail/commercial banking, or global diversified financial services.
- Knowledge of laws applicable to money laundering, including BSA, USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, and Suspicious Activity Reporting requirements.
- Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and online research systems.
- Knowledge of client and transactional monitoring processes.
- Detail-oriented with adaptability to changing assignments.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively across locations.
- Highly effective communication at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree.
- Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or other relevant certification.
- Experience in AML/financial crime investigations, customer due diligence, or sanctions screening.
- Familiarity with AML software (e.g., Actimize, Verafin, Fiserv, FCRM, Jack Henry Yellow Hammer, Patriot Officer).
- General banking compliance knowledge.
- Experience in professional services or project-based environments.
- Expertise in financial crime technology platforms (e.g., CLEAR, LexisNexis, World Check).
- Prior financial crime consulting experience.
- Bilingual (Spanish).
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $18.75 - $35.75 per hour, taking into account skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs.
