About the role

Assist patients with financial concerns, including counseling on healthcare coverage, assessing payment sources, developing payment plans, and collecting payments.

Responsibilities

  • Screen patients for eligibility of healthcare coverage and financial assistance programs
  • Provide counseling on financial responsibilities and in-house programs like Free Care, Discounted Care, and Payment Plans
  • Assess and offer financial assistance to inpatients prior to discharge
  • Collaborate with departments to determine financial options for procedures and price shopping
  • Record outreach statistics, maximize revenue, and minimize bad debt
  • Ensure a safe environment and adhere to safety policies

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, accounting, or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel locally and work scheduled hours, including one Saturday per month
  • Minimum age of 18 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Business
  • Experience in a hospital setting and knowledge of medical terminology
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Experience with electronic medical records and patient-centered care
