About the role
Assist patients with financial concerns, including counseling on healthcare coverage, assessing payment sources, developing payment plans, and collecting payments.
Responsibilities
- Screen patients for eligibility of healthcare coverage and financial assistance programs
- Provide counseling on financial responsibilities and in-house programs like Free Care, Discounted Care, and Payment Plans
- Assess and offer financial assistance to inpatients prior to discharge
- Collaborate with departments to determine financial options for procedures and price shopping
- Record outreach statistics, maximize revenue, and minimize bad debt
- Ensure a safe environment and adhere to safety policies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 2 years of customer service experience in healthcare, accounting, or related field
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to travel locally and work scheduled hours, including one Saturday per month
- Minimum age of 18 years
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, or Business
- Experience in a hospital setting and knowledge of medical terminology
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience with electronic medical records and patient-centered care
