Responsibilities
- Interviews patients face to face for financial assistance programs, eligibility and qualifications to ensure OhioHealth's charity policy and procedures are followed and appropriately offered to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
- Maintains the integrity of all patients requesting assistance.
- Works with State of Ohio County Case Workers to apply, qualify, and verify eligibility of Medicaid participants.
- Visits face to face with patients for collection opportunities of Medicare deductible and inpatient commercial copays, which directly affects the overall financial results of OhioHealth.
- Calls and requests collections of med pay on all auto accidents. Provides all necessary detail and documentation to carrier to ensure foremost and prompt payment of any and all available benefits to OhioHealth.
- On site lead to handle all face to face direct patient inquiries for non-clinical related issues, including irate and/or complaints.
- Works directly with outside eligibility vendor and is responsible to quality review their work.
- Provides cost information to patients.
Qualifications
- High School or GED (Required)
- 3 to 5 years of equivalent Experience
- Strong analytical skills to read and understand instructions
- Strong decision making skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to visit patient rooms and walk 6 hours per day
- Communication skills (verbal, written, telephone) necessary to explain policies or procedures, relay patients needs to appropriate personnel, or otherwise communicate with others in situations requiring sensitivity and tact
- Basic computer typing skills
- The ability to follow the work of other staff members
- Understanding of basic office machines (photocopies, fax, phone)
