Financial Coordinator - All Star Smiles Orthodontics
About the role
All Star Smiles Orthodontics is seeking a Financial Coordinator who can provide excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a supportive environment. Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome patients, providing a positive and professional first impression.
- Answer incoming calls, direct inquiries, take messages, assist with patient emergencies, and follow up on messages received during clinic closures.
- Verify patients' insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments.
- Enter and maintain insurance information within the Practice Management System.
- Submit insurance claims and supporting documentation to insurance providers and/or clearinghouses.
- Process insurance payments, refunds, and reconcile bulk payments within the Practice Management System.
- Maintain accurate patient account statuses for reporting and tracking purposes.
- Monitor outstanding insurance claims and follow up on unpaid balances.
- Manage accounts receivable, including overdue accounts and collection follow-up.
- Prepare and explain financial agreements, payment options, and insurance coverage to patients.
- Enter patient contracts and ensure accurate account documentation.
- Post patient charges, payments, adjustments, and discounts with appropriate supporting notes.
- Generate administrative and financial reports as required.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the practice.
Requirements
- One to two years of medical/dental insurance billing and claims processing (preferred).
- One year of accounts receivable experience is an asset.
- Previous banking experience is an asset.
- Two years of customer service experience (preferred).
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications.
