Responsibilities

  • Complete insurance verification at both the eligibility and benefit level.
  • Assess, review, and determine insurance coverage and requirements for visits and diagnostic testing.
  • Serve as the bridge between clinical and revenue cycle business areas by obtaining all required referrals and authorizations prior to visits or testing.
  • Ensure timely payment for services rendered, reducing financial risk to the organization.
  • Work closely with departmental leaders and staff to obtain all clinical data required for authorization, both pre- and post-op procedures.
  • Contact patients/caregivers to confirm insurance coverage or advise of any financial obligations, adhering to NSA guidelines.
  • Contribute to the financial stability of the program.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma (Associate degree preferred).
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of healthcare revenue cycle insurance experience (insurance verification preferred).
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 codes.

Physical Requirements

  • Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated, or ventilated facility with no routine exposure to hazards.
  • Full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks.
  • Visual and aural acuity, along with finger and hand dexterity.
  • Ability to withstand long periods of sitting, standing, and constant walking.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
  • May be subject to irregular hours, including evenings or weekends, to participate in operational and community events.
