Financial Associate (Full Time)
About the role
The Financial Associate (Teller/New Accounts) delivers a consistent, positive, and professional customer-service experience in person and on the phone, demonstrating strong sales proficiency. This role builds relationships with customers and internal bank personnel, requires excellent communication skills, initiative, and a sales-oriented mindset. Responsibilities include handling initial customer needs, opening new accounts, performing routine teller functions, cross-selling bank products, and referring customers to other lines of business to expand relationships. This universal role offers opportunities to expand banking knowledge or launch a financial-industry career.
Responsibilities
- Open deposit accounts and ancillary deposit services
- Process paying and receiving transactions
- Balance transactions and cash, ensuring proper documentation, negotiability, and audit trails
- Identify customer expansion opportunities and refer customers to appropriate bank associates
- Perform account maintenance and related activities
- Adhere to internal controls and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance
- Meet service standards in person and on the phone, delivering consistent customer service
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Minimum of two years of retail/sales or banking experience
- Basic knowledge of retail product philosophy, policy, procedures, documentation, and systems
- Some knowledge of retail products and services
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills
- Effective selling, cross-selling, and referral skills
- Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills preferred
Skills
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written communication skills
- Solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Lifting up to 30 lbs in an office setting may be required
