About the role

The Financial Reporting Specialist (FRS) is responsible for filing International and US Regulatory reporting for BSI. The position ensures the integrity, consistency, and adequacy of reported data and its timely submission in accordance with requirements from regulatory bodies, Head Office (BSSA), and the IHC. The FRS maintains internal controls over report data and mapping, prepares risk-weighted assets and regulatory capital calculations monthly, and coordinates automation projects within the Finance department. This role also involves maintaining desktop procedures, variance/trend analysis, and compliance with corporate policies while partnering with other business units to resolve issues and improve department functions.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation of required Head Office (BSSA) and European Central Bank (ECB) reports, including IFRS end-of-month closing, satellites, RIG, and Cartera de Negociacion.
  • Preparation of BSI regulatory reports, including TICs, FR2900, FFIEC 009 & 009A, FRY 15, FRY9C, FR2886B, and FFIEC 031, as well as input for IHC regulatory reports.
  • Monthly preparation of Risk Weighted Assets (US and ECB) and regulatory capital calculations for distribution to BSI, Head Office (BSSA), and IHC management.
  • Preparation of assigned quarterly SEC Reports.
  • Participation in automation and upgrades of the reporting system, including migration and mapping for US and IFRS reporting processes, Hexaware and Regnology applications, and IT projects for BSI and IHC.
  • Meeting revised reporting requirements and enhancing Excel support for US and IFRS documentation.
  • Maintaining and upgrading regulatory reporting applications, including research and comprehensive knowledge of the Bank’s tools (e.g., Reg. Reporter), general ledger, products, and related activities.
  • Maintaining technical competence in US GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory regulations impacting reporting requirements.
  • Documenting all policies, procedures, and controls encompassing the regulatory reporting framework, including desktop procedures, EUA processes, and document library descriptions.
  • Participating in bank examinations and internal/external audits to achieve satisfactory ratings.
  • Completing daily data extractions and validation processes to facilitate reporting.
  • Partnering with internal (IT, Legal, Compliance, FP&C, Financial Control, International Reporting, Financial Reporting, and Business Operations) and external constituencies (regulators, external auditors, consultants) to facilitate projects, problem resolution, automation, and reporting needs.
  • Compliance with corporate policies, culture, and training expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military service, or education (Required).
  • Master’s Degree in a related field or equivalent (Preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a similar field within the Banking or Financial Services Industry (Required).
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, including US GAAP/IFRS and regulatory reporting standards.
  • Strong regulatory and financial reporting knowledge of banking/financial institutions.
  • Experience working with Regulatory Reporting Vendor Solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Oracle, Database, Access, and PowerPoint applications.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English (Required).
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification (Preferred).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring employer sponsorship.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $71,250.00 – $122,500.00 USD annually. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and location.
