Financial Analyst I

Responsibilities

• Gathers, compiles, organizes and documents relevant financial information
• Analyzes, consolidates and interprets financial data
• Aids in the preparation of budgets, including trend analysis and forecasting
• Aids in the preparation of detailed reports and presentations for review by all levels of management
• Maintains oversight of actual results of financial data against plans, forecasts and budgets
• Consolidates a wide range of operating and financial projections for the development of both short-term and long-term business plans
• Reviews, evaluates and recommends revisions to departmental expenditures for conformance to budgeted amounts
• Reviews resolutions and committee agenda for financial commitments
• Reviews County-wide spending and advises Departments/Elected Officials on need for budget transfers; processes County-wide budget transfers and appropriations
• Verifies, prepares and reviews daily deposit sheets for various functions within County departments
• Prepares departmental invoices
• Prepares various reports and studies as assigned
• Affords assistance with Tort Liability reconciliation and other County insurance matters
• Affords assistance with the maintenance of the budget system

Requirements

• Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• A passing score on Intermediate Excel and Basic Word tests is required.
• A pre-employment background check is required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

• Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
• Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
